En Ecuador, la Agencia Nacional de Tr\u00e1nsito (ANT) reporta que en 2024 se registraron <strong>21.220 accidentes<\/strong>, con <strong>2.302 fallecidos<\/strong> y <strong>18.312 heridos<\/strong>, lo que equivale a una persona lesionada cada 30 minutos y una muerte cada 3,8 hora. A pesar del rol crucial de los neum\u00e1ticos, en torno a ellos persisten numerosos mitos que pueden poner en riesgo la seguridad de conductores y pasajeros. Existen modelos para ciudad, carretera, todo terreno o incluso para altas velocidades. Los compuestos de caucho, el dise\u00f1o de la banda de rodamiento y la tecnolog\u00eda de fabricaci\u00f3n influyen directamente en el agarre, el confort y la durabilidad. Elegir el modelo adecuado para el tipo de veh\u00edculo y estilo de conducci\u00f3n es fundamental.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cSi tiene aire, est\u00e1 bien\u201d: <\/strong>Uno de los errores m\u00e1s comunes es pensar que basta con que el neum\u00e1tico no est\u00e9 desinflado. La realidad es que una presi\u00f3n inadecuada \u2014ya sea baja o alta\u2014 puede provocar desgaste irregular, mayor consumo de combustible y p\u00e9rdida de adherencia en curvas o frenadas. Verificar la presi\u00f3n al menos una vez al mes y antes de viajes largos es una pr\u00e1ctica esencial para la seguridad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cSolo se cambian cuando se pinchan\u201d: <\/strong>El pinchazo no es la \u00fanica raz\u00f3n para reemplazar un neum\u00e1tico. Grietas en el caucho, chichones, vibraciones inusuales en la conducci\u00f3n o un desgaste pronunciado en la banda de rodamiento son se\u00f1ales claras de que lleg\u00f3 el momento de cambiarlos. Ignorar estas advertencias puede derivar en fallas graves y accidentes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cM\u00e1s ancho es m\u00e1s seguro\u201d: <\/strong>Aunque un neum\u00e1tico m\u00e1s ancho puede mejorar la estabilidad en ciertos escenarios, no siempre significa mayor seguridad. En superficies mojadas puede reducir la capacidad de evacuar el agua, aumentando el riesgo de hidroplaneo. Lo importante es mantener las medidas recomendadas por el fabricante del veh\u00edculo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cLos neum\u00e1ticos nuevos, no necesitan cuidados\u201d:<\/strong> Muchas personas piensan que, por ser nuevos, los neum\u00e1ticos no requieren revisiones o cuidados especiales. Sin embargo, durante los primeros 300 a 500 kil\u00f3metros es recomendable conducir con precauci\u00f3n, ya que la superficie del neum\u00e1tico puede tener una ligera capa protectora del proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n que reduce el agarre inicial.
